Experience

I have spent the past 9 years working in Social Work, working with children, youth and families. My experience includes; foster care, adoption, kinship care, family services, family violence, high risk youth, Targeted Care Packages, Child Protection and Palliative Care. I have also been a foster carer for 8 years, and have a lot of experience in working with and caring for children with complex needs and behaviour impacted by trauma. I have a particular interest in how trauma impacts upon brain development in the early years of a child's life. A particular interest and skill area for me is in writing assessments and developing proposals. I have had a number of leadership positions within my field and have a passion for strong leadership and education as well as watching people thrive and develop their skills as well as build their confidence.

Hobbies

As I have worked with children for many years, as well as been a foster carer for over 50 children of all ages, I am particularly good at engaging with, and building trust and rapport with young people. I love to help young people learn in a safe and fun environment, that builds upon their strengths and interests. Another particular interest for me is in mentoring people starting out in their field, as well as people moving into a leadership position for the first time.
