Education
I earned my Postgraduate Degree in Secondary Education specializing in English and Drama at the University of Exeter. My undergraduate degree in English and Fine Art: Painting and Drawing was earned with first-class honors at the University of Northampton. I also hold a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design from the Colchester Institute, where I studied Fashion, Graphic Design, and Fine Art.
Experience
It was my passion for English and a desire to inspire a similar enthusiasm, for both the subject and learning more broadly, in young people which resulted in me becoming a Secondary English teacher and private tutor. I am a confident and approachable teacher with seven years of experience as a professional tutor. All pupils' initial lessons involve a discussion with both the pupil and a parent or guardian to gain an overview of their current level, followed by a series of short tests from which I can further ascertain the pupil's strengths and areas for development. I strive to ensure that my lesson plans are tailored to suit all of my student's personal learning requirements. I am skilled in developing and delivering activities that will inspire visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners, and that can cater to all levels of knowledge and skill. This includes developing resources for English as Additional Language learners; creating challenging opportunities for higher ability pupils to continue investigating, analyzing, and synthesizing at a higher level or with greater autonomy; and ensuring that the learning of all pupils, at whichever level, is effectively and appropriately scaffolded. I taught English for a year at the Sydney Russell School in London. I taught six classes, of which two were Gifted and Talented courses. I began tutoring in 2009, working with students between the ages of 7 and 21 in English Literature, English Language, Mathematics, and Fine Art.

Hobbies
I am most often found with a book in one hand and a sketchbook in the other! I work freelance as an illustrator and photographer alongside tutoring which feeds into my interest in art and design. I thoroughly enjoy attending gallery exhibitions and the theatre.
